LIONEL- IN FOSTER
Mischief aka Lionel
Lionel arrived at the Animal Care Facility shut down and afraid of humans. Lionel went into foster where he has been slowly learning to trust and believe he is safe. Lionel will need lifelong trust building rehabilitation with all new humans he meets. Gentle voices and kind hands are a must. Lionel will run away and not allow petting when out in an open space. He prefers to stay in his crate but has the door open for all the freedom he wants at his own pace. He loves toys and frozen PB KONGS. He is very sweet. He is short and stocky, weighing approx. 50lbs.
We can only speculate on his past, but what we do know is that humans were not kind to him and hurt him physically and emotionally.
BREED: American Staffordshire/ APBT
(DNA done 2/22)
AGE: 2.5 years
COAT LENGTH: Short
HOUSE-TRAINED: yes
HEALTH: Good, Vaccines UTD
GOOD IN A HOME WITH: dogs, parrot, older children

LEOPOLD- PAWS Graduate! 10/19/2022
IN FOSTER
LEOPOLD IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! PAWS PRISON PROGRAM GRADUATE!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Leopold is one handsome dude! He is silly, cuddly and very smart.
Leo graduated from the PAWS Training program and did very well! He knows his commands and is good on leash. Leo would love to be your (on leash) hiking partner or go camping with you – he's up for adventures! He would also love to share your sofa while binge watching tv with you! Leopold is very food motivated so it will be a breeze to teach him additional tricks and to reinforce what he already knows.
Leo is not a fan of other dogs and needs to be an only pet, with no off-leash exposure to other dogs. Leo's awesome foster parents continue to work on eye contact and redirecting when he gets distracted by other dogs, squirrels, whatever it may be. He's come a long way thanks to consistency (and treats)! He is a SMART and loving boy.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 3.5 years
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and microchipped
GOOD WITH: Must be only dog; no cats or other small animals; respectful older (10+) children
Interested in meeting Leo? Please submit a Pre-Adoption Application at www.boisebulybreedrescue.com (under forms tab)

YUKON- 3/7/2023 PAWS GRADUATE!
Yukon is available for adoption!
Yukon is a recent PAWS Prison Program graduate. The PAWS program truly transformed Yukon. Before the program Yukon lacked confidence and structure, he seemed lost, grasping for love and attention, he didn't quite know how to handle himself. His previous home totally failed him by not providing him with any training or guidance.
Yukon still gets a bit excited when being geared for walks, but we don't blame him, we would want to get out of the kennel and get some fresh air too. He loves all staff and volunteers.
Yukon is highly intelligent. Yukon would do best with a family who will continue to work with him on his commands, he knows them all well! He knows them so well, he will test you and see if you *really are going to make him "work". He reads people really well, he tries to train people, but that isn't the way it goes, YUKON! 🤣
Yukon loves to play with toys and to be active! He would love a single person to run and hike with or a family who is on the go OR has a big backyard for him to play and run in.

PAWS Prison Program Update
Yukon Week 7 Summary:
We have worked hard with Yukon and he is doing amazing both with us and with other handlers. He remains an energetic, fun loving soul who loves to surprise you, however his stimulus control is really getting good. I wish we would have had dogs that his energy would have worked with for play. We did not get to see him with other dogs, but he has never acted any thing but excited about other dogs, even when they act crazy about him, he does not care.
PAWS Prison Program update
Yukon Week 8 Summary:
Yukon has been a fun and lovable challenge, he has come a long long ways and we couldn’t be happier to see that he will have a real chance at a forever home now. Im including a video for his tricks and proper play to continue building his stimulus controls. I forgot to mention in the video of how to play with Yukon, that when you release Yukon to engage the rope toy always hold the rope with two hands to offer him a sure steady target. NEVER swing the rope in one hand because dogs will go after the steadiest target and on a sparatic rope the steadiest point is at the hand.
We hope Yukon may be perfect for the perfect one. He will need love, guidance and understanding but will bring a lot of joy.
Journal Entry:
Yukon's CGC test went well, we know he is capable of far better but he is still a night and day from the dog who showed up here needing our guidance.
BREED: Bully Breed Blend
AGE: 1-1/2 years
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro chipped.
GOOD WITH: Dogs; respectful, older (12+) children

Herman- In foster
HERMAN IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Herman arrived at Orange County Animal Shelter as a stray. He was friendly with staff when arrived and loved treats! Herman arrived with masses on his scrotum, some dental calculus, emaciated, ulcerated skin, and dermatitis. He was neutered, had his mass removed.
Herman displayed some head tremors and tilting at the shelter, since arrival to BBBR he has not displayed this behavior but is being monitored. Herman received further medical diagnostics when he arrived to BBBR. It was then determined that he had some additional masses that needed to be removed and a scrotum ablation was needed and performed.
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Herman is recovering well and an absolute sweetie, he is bursting with joy. It is as if he never had surgery, he is amazing and very loving. He is already stealing everyone's hearts and tucking them away in his.
Herman has not been tested with dogs off leash or cats due to his medical treatments and observations, but has shown no signs of unfriendliness. He is non-reactive at the facility when dogs walk by and veterinary staff reported a puppy came close to him and he was very friendly. If he could talk he would say to everyone, "hi, I'm Herman, I'm a nice boy, want to play?!"
Herman would love a home with someone who he can hang out with, will give him toys to play with, and have fun everyday! He is a big boy, respectful children 5+ recommended. Herman is low or moderate energy, a slower walk around the block and backyard fun and sun is all this guy needs!

Nova- 3/7/23 PAWS GRADUATE!
NOVA IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Nova is a sweet loving girl at her core, but the world around her can be very scary. Her short life has been spent living within the shelter system, which is a very uncertain place to grow up as a puppy. It is very apparent that she has had little to no exposure to the outside world. Until she had the opportunity to attend the PAWs program she hadn't experienced confident leadership from anyone. Nova did amazingly well up at the PAWs program, but now that she is back in the environment she started in, it is really taking a toll.
Nova will need a confident person who will take the time to expose her to the world in a slow and controlled way to make sure that her experiences are positive ones. Her anxious mind races a million miles a minute and she will need to learn to work through that instead of trying to escape it. When Nova is scared she tries to run away. Because of this, physical touch and leashing in confined spaces, before she trusts you, is one of her main fears because there is nowhere to go and no way to create space for herself. Nova has also shown a greater fear towards men, but that is not to say that without patience and trust she won't come around. She proved at the PAWs program that she is willing to open up and face her fears, as long as her person is there to guide her safely and confidently through it.
When Nova lets her guard down she is just like any other playful puppy! She enjoys playing with toys, she is very food motivated and is just all around a fun goofy girl. She would love an active family, maybe someone who loves to run or hike! She is dog friendly and would LOVE a very playful and confident playmate who can also help show her the world isn't so bad! She is very much still a puppy and would need a friend who could keep up with her playfulness as well as teach her some rules of the playground. She doesn't always get the memo when another pup is done playing.
Dogs like Nova may not always be the easiest at the beginning but they truly are worth it. The bond you build with a dog as you navigate and overcome their fears and anxieties solidify a love that goes unmatched for a lifetime.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 11 months
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and microchipped.
HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes
GOOD WITH: Other dogs; possibly children 15+due to her nervous skittish flight behavior; possibly cats; other small animals unknown

Loki- CURRENT PAWS STUDENT!
LOKI IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Loki arrived at the Orange County Animal Shelter for a 3rd time, nervous and scared, his owners did not claim. Loki had been at the shelter twice before and was redeemed. This last time he came in with a recently fractured femur in his hind left leg. He has some lameness and arthritis, due to past medical neglect and not receiving medical attention promptly. This does not hamper his loving attitude and zest for life! He is wonderful and so sweet!
After arriving at BBBR, Loki was immediately transferred to All Valley Animal Hospital for further diagnostics and testing. The good news is that Loki's 3 week old fracture is healing OK, it would be harder for Loki to go through surgery at this point. Loki is on restricted activity until the bone is healed completely. You would never know this guy has a fractured femur, he is loving his new found freedom and lease on life!
Personality traits:
The shelter reports Loki is food motivated and knows a few tricks! He also likes to meet other dogs who have the same energy level as him. He loves to play but is only active for short periods of time as he does have old fractures and osteoarthritis. He would love to find a home where he can learn more tricks and show off how amazing he is! He is good with other dogs, knows basic commands, and is house and leash trained.
Want to meet this hunky, fun boy? Please submit a Pre-adoption application found at www.boisebullybreedrescue.com (click on the Forms tab)

Rambo- RAMBO-2021
PAWS GRADUATE!
RAMBO IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Rambo. This guy amazes us. He tears our hearts out. There are not enough bully sticks or pig ears to distract him from his and our sorrow. We try, but it's going on 730 days, IN RESCUE. That doesn't include shelter time. This breaks our hearts. He patiently awaits his people. Rambo is our longest resident, and we don't know WHY?!
Rambo loves to snuggle, Rambo loves to chill. This boy walks like a dream on a leash, he is LOYAL, he is sweet and funny. He is worthy and has paid his dues for an adopter. He is not reactive to other dogs on leash. He walks on and past, headed to his adventures with his people.

Rambo has waited almost 2 years for his adopter(s). Is it because he's not a "good" dog? NO! He is.. anti-social with dogs, he is not reactive but he prefers a dog and pet free home. We don't blame him, nurture or nature, he is who he is!
Rambo loves car rides, walks, hikes, you name it, he wants to be there and on an adventure with you!
Thank you to all staff and volunteers for the love and devotion you have given him over the past almost two years!

Prim 5/17/23 PAWS Graduate!
Prim is available for adoption!
Prim is funny, ADORABLE and puppy silly awkward. She thinks she is a princess and that everyone knows it. We have loved watching her weekly progress at PAWS. She just completed her 8 week course, located in Orofino. Prim scored a 9/10 on her CGC test! She has learned hand signals for sit, stay, look, down, good, ok, and heel. Prim has also been trained with a vibrate collar, and is still sharpening her skills. She is a favorite with the dogs and all the handlers/trainers.
Prim is deaf and struggled early on with GI issues however we finally figured out her mystery illness. Prim has a slow emptying tummy. It’s very manageable, smaller and more frequent meals, no meals before bedtime and a simple inexpensive medication controls it.
Prim appears to have some sensitivity to sunlight, she is acclimating to her Rex Specs, to help filter the brightness out so she can open her eyes a bit more outside.
Prim loves walks! She is very curious. Prim loves other dogs and to play.
Prim will be best matched with a very patient dog that is as energetic as she is and that also loves to snuggle. She knows NO personal space.
Prim will need to be crated when left alone, for her safety, she is a puppy and curious, however she isn’t a big fan of the crate. Unknown with cats.
Prim will do best with a family or person who is familiar with deaf dogs and will continue to work with her or one that is willing to learn.
Prim is friendly and interested in little people and might jump on them to play. She will also try to steal their food. She loves treats. We recommend children over 12+ for Prim due to her puppy playfulness.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 10 months
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and microchipped.
HOUSE-TRAINED: YES! She’s learned to use a dog door at her foster home.
Crate Trained- YES (she is still not a fan)
GOOD WITH: Other dogs; respectful children 5+; cats and other small animals unknown.
Interested in meeting Prim? Please submit a Pre- Adoption Application found under the forms tab at www.boisebullybreedrescue.com. Do you have questions about Prim? Please contact Paige at pnelsonhaught@gmail.com

Luna
Luna is available for adoption!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Luna is a sweetheart with staff and volunteers. She loves to ride in the car and sniff the fresh Idaho
air....freedom has never smelled so good! She shines with gratefulness! What she would really be
grateful for is a family/person to call her own. Hey singles – Luna is movie star beautiful and would make a great buddy to hang out with at your favorite cafe. You'll be meeting more people than you ever thought possible. Luna tore her ACL and it required medical attention. Shelters do not have the resources to help dogs like Luna. Cruciate surgeries are expensive and mindful aftercare with physical therapy is required for 8+ weeks until recovery is complete. Thanks to your donations we were able to accept Luna into our rescue and give her the appropriate medical care she needed. She is all healed up and ready for her next
adventure!
Due to Luna's torn ACL, she was not tested with other dogs in the shelter. She will not be ready for off leash meets until she has the A-OK from her veterinarian. She has not been reactive in the facility and friendly and non-reactive when walking by the other dogs. When she is fully recovered she will
formerly be tested with other dogs. Human meets are ok - she would love to say hello and show you her new knee!
BREED: Bully Blend
AGE: 3 years
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped. Recent CBLO surgery to repair torn cruciate. 100% adorable.
GOOD WITH: Other dogs, children, cats or other small animals unknown
