Thor- NEW PAWS STUDENT!

Thor is a six year old gentleman who just loves to walk at his own pace, and sunbathe, boy does he love the warm sunshine. Sure, he can jog a bit, or walk quite the distance, but his pace will be decided by using his built in Thor-ometer. He is a chill dude who wants to take in all the beauty around him while enjoying his day and his people. When Thor smiles, he lights up the world. He has the best smile!

PAWS report week 6/8
Weekly Summary: 6
This week we worked on preparing Thor for his final Canine Good Citizen (CGC) readiness test.
He did very good in all the commands that he usually struggled with like; standing still for inspection, and returning to the heel position on recalls. The entire team has done very well getting him ready as he did pass with the score of 10/10. Thor has been such a great dog showing no signs of aggression and remaining a low energy pet. He will be the perfect addition to any family.
Daily Journal Entry:
Today Thor got some overtime work with the few commands he still struggles with. It has been rainy this week and he hasn’t had a chance to get out and run so it may be some of that also. He went for his first side by side ride and absolutely loved it.

Sweet Bobo is an absolutely gorgeous boy who is very unsure of his new surroundings. I wasn’t able to get many pictures of Bobo because he is a pretty timid guy, him and I are still getting acquainted and I didn’t want to scare him too much with my camera. But this mellow mannered boy is quick to melt your heart. Despite his fear, Bobo does seek out affection once he starts to build a connection with people, he just needs some time and patience to get to know you. He has a very calm demeanor and is easy to leash up and is a great walker.
Where this boy really shines is around other dogs. He has had multiple opportunities to engage with other dogs her at the facility and being around other dogs really brings him out of his shell. Bobo would do best in a home with a confident and playful dog to show him the world around him isn't so bad. Bobo is looking for a quiet and patient home that will help him build his confidence!

This spunky little dude is all puppy - zoomies, toy collecting, treat snatching, and more zoomies. He’s convinced the world is his playground (and honestly, he’s not wrong).
Don’t let his squirrel level attention span fool you, though — when it’s time to train, Rocco’s got the brains to match the energy. He’s food motivated, eager to please, and already showing some serious potential. With a bit of structure, he’ll be the best sidekick you could ever ask for — playful, loyal, and endlessly entertaining.

Nova is a very unique and special girl. She had a horrible start to life very early on. Because of this she needs a person(s) that will give her special attention, lots of patience, not force her into unfamiliar
situations and let people know not to interact with her until she is ready. She needs to know they will
not abuse her. Nova is not a dog for everyone – she needs a very special kind of understanding
human(s).
She needs:
• Consistency with <positive reinforcement> training and routine
• Time to adapt to new situations/things/people – all must be taken slowly
• Needs to be on leash when meeting new people, letting her use her nose to smell people from a distance.
• Due to her excitement level needs slow intro to other dogs
• Child-free environment
She is:
• Medium-high energy level

• Improving meeting new people

Meet Lobo! At first glance, Lobo might seem a little reserved, but give him a moment and you’ll see what a lovebug he truly is. Once he opens up, his personality shines, he’s full of affection and loves to stay close for pets and cuddles.
Lobo is a smart cookie, he’s very food motivated and already knows how to sit and quickly learned to stay while I stepped back for some photos! He may not have had much formal training yet, but he’s clearly eager to learn and catches on fast.
Unfortunately Lobo has recently been diagnosed with a torn cruciate. The area of the injury is his knee. CBLO surgery is recommended. The rescue will provide the surgery for an adopter once Lobo is settled into his new home and comfy.
He will need an adopter(s) willing to
help him recover at home.

Piano is a playful, sweet goofball! This boy has a lot of playful energy but listens pretty well and was very engaged with me. He loves people and attention. He can be a bit of a jumper when he is excited but it is manageable and with some guidance this would be easy to work through.
Piano is very smart and is also very food motivated, that combination will make training much easier! He also LOVES to play with toys and enjoyed it most when we played with the toy together. This sweet active boy is looking for a family that loves to get out and be active whether that be hiking, long walks or lots of play time with his favorite toys!

Pickle is is such a sweet guy. He met me with loose body wiggles when I approached his kennel, he was excited but easy to leash. We took a short walk as he is still recovering from his neuter. He loves to follow his nose and can pull a bit at first but with just a little guidance he walked easily with a loose lead. He seems to respond well to his name, he easily disengaged with the environment and turned his attention back on me when called.
After our walk we spent some time in the yard. He has such an easy going demeanor and he is such a joy to be around. He absolutely loves toys but we could play much as he is still recovering. Pickle is also very food motivated and caught on to some basic training very quickly. Once he realized I was looking for a "sit" and a short "stay" for a couple pictures, he had it down like a pro.
His ears are so filled with character as they flapped in the wind. He does has a unique paw that is a bit curved but it doesn't slow him down at all. Pickle is sweet, affectionate, smart and playful. He would make such a great addition to any family

Big Boy just arrived and then jetted off to attend a 6 week amazing training course at PAWS! Please check back on Mondays on our "current PAWS students" page on our website for weekly updates on his progress.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Big Boy is known to be a little shy at first and then he can be very friendly. He does well in off leash play groups and could live with another dog in the home. Big Boy would benefit from a round of positive reinforcement training to help him perfect his manners. He is currently working on leash training. Here is what shelter staff and volunteers have to say about Big Boy: Big Boy was abandoned with his litter mates in a locked cage inside a house when his owner went to jail. An elderly woman who had a private shelter took them in. That was 3 years ago. Now the woman’s own health issues makes her unable to care for the animals under her care and our rescue has taken on the dogs to find placements for them.

Tanner was calm and easy to leash up in his kennel and he walked nicely to the play yard. He wasn't very food motivated but sought out closeness and affection. While he was kept on lead in the yard, you can tell he has a playful and energetic side to him.
He's had a lot of changes recently, having just arrived and recovering from surgery we are continuing to learn more about his personality each day! Come meet this sweet, gentle boy. It won't take long to fall in love with him!

Now her health issues make her unable to care for all of the dogs in her care. Our rescue had stepped into help her find placements for her dogs do they don’t end up at the local high-kill shelter.

Tanner would benefit from a round of positive reinforcement training to perfect his manners. He is currently working on his leash training. Here is what shelter staff and volunteers have to say about Tanner: Tanner was dumped on the side of the road but provided shelter by an elderly woman who had a private rescue. Now her health issues make her unable to care for all of the dogs in her care. Our rescue had stepped into help her find placements for her dogs do they don’t end up at the local high-kill shelter.

She enjoys adventures but at the same time she is fine with cuddling on the couch. She deserves a home that will love her dearly-- being without one eye, being adopted from the local shelter to then being bred instead of going to her spay appointment then finally being dumped at someone's property with her 2 puppies out in farm land. The land owner doesn't want her there anymore and wants to have her euthanized.

Don't let his frosty face fool you, he may have the looks of an elderly gentleman but this guy is still in his prime. I had so much fun with Watson in the yard. Not only does he have the good looks, this guy is SO smart! It is clear that someone put some time into him. He knows how to sit, down, stay, drop a toy and his recall in the yard was pretty great too!
Watson is very food motivated but he is a toy guy through and through. If we have any frisbee lovers out there, this guy would make an incredible disc dog!

Nose down, tail up, sniffing every corner like a detective on a mission. “What’s that? And that?” The world is just too interesting to sit still. But bring out the treats and oh boy… you’ve got his whole heart. His eyes light up like he just struck gold. He’ll follow you anywhere, do almost anything, and once you have his attention, he melts into 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒏. Toys are where Rudy really shows his soft side.
