PERSONALITY TRAITS
Nova is a very unique and special girl. She had a horrible start to life very early on. Because of this she needs a person(s) that will give her special attention, lots of patience, not force her into unfamiliar
situations and let people know not to interact with her until she is ready. She needs to know they will
not abuse her. Nova is not a dog for everyone – she needs a very special kind of understanding
human(s).
She needs:
• Consistency with <positive reinforcement> training and routine
• Time to adapt to new situations/things/people – all must be taken slowly
• Needs to be on leash when meeting new people, letting her use her nose to smell people from a distance.
• Due to her excitement level needs slow intro to other dogs
• Child-free environment
She is:
• Medium-high energy level
• Dog friendly
• Improving meeting new people
Once you bond with Nova she will be your best friend. She is very loyal and she will let you do anything to her once she trusts you. You will have a very faithful companion. When she gets past her
fears she knows her commands and she walks well on a leash. It just takes consistency and some time
but it’s worth it.
Are you interested in meeting Nova...understanding her needs in order for her to succeed? If so, please
contact Dan the Dog Trainer (above). She is a wonderful pooch – you will not be sorry!
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 2 years

Thor- PAWS GRAD!
Thor is available for adoption!
Thor is a six year old gentleman who just loves to walk at his own pace, and sunbathe, boy does he love the warm sunshine. Sure, he can jog a bit, or walk quite the distance, but his pace will be decided by using his built in Thor-ometer. He is a chill dude who wants to take in all the beauty around him while enjoying his day and his people. When Thor smiles, he lights up the world. He has the best smile!
Thor aced his Canine Good Citizen test 10/10! Way to go Thor! Click below to watch Thor take his test!
PAWS report week 6/8
Weekly Summary: 6
This week we worked on preparing Thor for his final Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.
He did very good in all the commands that he usually struggled with like; standing still for inspection, and returning to the heel position on recalls. The entire team has done very well getting him ready as he did pass with the score of 10/10. Thor has been such a great dog showing no signs of aggression and remaining a low energy pet. He will be the perfect addition to any family.
Daily Journal Entry:
Today Thor got some overtime work with the few commands he still struggles with. It has been rainy this week and he hasn’t had a chance to get out and run so it may be some of that also. He went for his first side by side ride and absolutely loved it.
Interested in meeting this handsome guy? Please submit our pre-adoption application!
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 6 years
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped.
GOOD WITH: Other dogs; older (8+) respectful children; Cat tested/not recommended. Other small animals unknown

Arrow- PAWS x 2 GRAD!
Arrow is available for adoption!
Arrow is completing his second course at PAWS!
WEEKLY SUMMARY: WEEK SEVEN
The team has done such a great job with Arrow this week! It is so easy to tell that everyone has been on the same page while Arrow has been here with us another round and they have definitely worked hard to care for his well-being as well as his future! This weekend we had CGC’s and Arrow didn’t do as well as I hoped he would, but needless to say he did just fine and is still the happiest, hardworking boy! We spent tons of time this week continuing to perform tricks with Arrow and giving him tons of time to be a dog and get all of his energy out! He continues to play just fine with Boulder (when Boulder is in the mood to be harassed) and never misses a day without his play sessions in the water!
DAILY JOURNAL: 6/7/25
Today we had CGC’s and Arrow didn’t do as hot as I was hoping he would! This morning Arrow had tons of energy and just wanted to go go go and check everyone and everything out which is always fun and great, testing or not! Arrow kept sitting during his stand for CGC #3 so since he wasn’t performing I called it a fail for that moment and went on with the test. Arrow did fine for everything else, but he wasn’t totally attentive and engaged during the entire test which is fine because he still performed well! For CGC #8 dog on dog, Arrow kept trying to break and get to Boulder which was shutting Boulder down, so I ended that test with a fail as well since he couldn’t remain polite and calm for even a third attempt.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 2 years
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped.
GOOD WITH: Best as only pet in the home. Respectful children 10+.

Achilles- PAWS GRAD!
Achilles is available for adoption!
PAWS REPORT-
WEEKLY SUMMARY – Week 5
Achilles is doing great. We have been dialing in his obedience training. He is smart, but has challenges with keeping his focus. He is constantly alert, always looking around. His anxiety has been getting a little better, it is a slow but steady progression. We think he will do so much better in a house rather than a large industrial building like this. When he gets in his own environment where he is comfortable, he is a different dog so happy and loving life.
DAILY ENTRY: 5-31-25
Achilles has been working on his recall today. He likes to stop in front of us rather than come about into a heel. We are working on reinforcing what we want, and he will get there.
Before Achilles departed for PAWS, volunteer Jada reported:
Achilles is a playful, affectionate dog who just needs a little time and confidence to really shine. Right now, everything is still a bit new and overwhelming for Achilles, especially the noisy, busy shelter environment. He can be a little nervous when coming in and out of his kennel or walking through the main floor with all the other dogs barking. But give him a little space and take him outside, and you’ll see the real Achilles come out: happy, playful, and a total goofball!
He’s very food motivated, which makes him a great candidate for training, which is perfect since he will be part of our next round of PAWS dogs. While he’s not super into toys right now, we think once he’s feeling more comfortable and settled, his curious and playful side will only grow.
Achilles is looking for a family that's patient, active and ready to help him build confidence as he adjusts to his new life. In return, he’ll give you lots of love, loyalty, and maybe even a few goofy zoomies.

Jackpot-
JACKPOT IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Get your application in early to be the first to meet Jackpot when he returns from PAWS.
Jackpot was returned to rescue over the weekend. Jackpot will need a home without dogs or other dogs that visit the family home. There were ultimately two incidents that occurred over higher value items (ie. humans and food). As such, we make these recommendations for an only dog home.
Jackpot's adopters provided the following in hopes to help Jackpot find a better forever fit:
"Jackpot is just the goodest boy. We noticed dog reactivity very early and got him formal training to work on it. Since getting the training he is a great walker and needs minimal corrections to keep him focused on moving ahead. He is very sweet and much smarter than his block head would lead you to believe so he picks up things quickly. He knows sit very well but he also knows, place, stay, and break. He will sit patiently for his food until you say break. He is definitely not a morning dog. He is very good in his crate and will go into his crate with minimal asking. Once awake in the morning, he wants his fully body rub down and to do his happy goat kicks, then he wants his bathroom break, breakfast, and then it’s time for his morning naps. Don’t worry, he will let you know several hours later that he is ready for his walk with his dramatic sighs and plopping down by the door. He LOVES blankets and especially loves electric ones where he can thoroughly bake himself. He is just starting to learn how to play with toys and the joy they can bring but he LOVES to chew. Soft toys don’t stand a chance at all.
He hasn’t met a human he doesn’t love. I think his personal goal in life is to get pets and love from every person. He is great with all ages, even very young kids. He is so sweet around little ones letting them pet him and play with and tug his ears. He is also great in a car. He loves riding in the car seeing the sights, whether that is a short trip or a long one, he has done both and is great. He hardly barks so it will surprise you when he does.
If you’re looking for a couch potato with legs that LOVES nap time, walks, blankets, cuddles, and scratches, Jackpot is your guy! He also lives for pup cups or whipped cream straight from the can. He would just do best in a house where he is the only dog and likely wouldn’t be around other dogs. DEFINITELY no cats.
He did have problems with peeing in the house randomly for the first few months but very consistent trips outside and bells on the patio door helped and we hadn’t seen an accident for a month now.
I know Jackpot will make someone as happy as he has made us these past 5 months because he is such a good buddy and house hippo. He truly is the goodest boy and deserves all the love in the world."

Sarge-NEW PAWS GRAD!
Sarge is available for adoption! Get your application in early to be the first to meet Sarge when he returns from PAWS.
BBBR UPDATE: Meet Sarge, reporting for duty, ready to melt hearts and bring joy to all who meets him. This handsome senior is just the happiest of boys and it is infectious. He loves snuggles from everyone he meets, won't ever turn down a treat and plays with the spunk of a puppy.
Sarge is both food and toy motivated. He doesn't know many commands but can easily be lured with a treat into a sit and down. He loves to play with toys and has the cutest pounce with both his front paws. Come meet this sweet boy and fall in love!
From the shelter:
Sarge's owner could no longer take care of him due to owner's medical issues. Sarge is good with other dogs and enjoys off leash doggy playgroups. He knows basic commands and is house trained. Sir
Sir is available for adoption!
Where are our Frenchie lovers?! Sir arrived in need of some attention to his skin issues which have improved tremendously!
So far Sir has been nothing but a pleasure. He does the spins when excited and appears to know when a leash comes out it's time to take a walkie! He was very unsure about his harness and collar, but with some positive association training by our BBBR trainers on staff, he is learning that when they come out and he is brave enough to put them on, that a fun walk will come next! He loves all the smells on his walks keeps up a good pace with his little legs!
Sir also really loves his toys, he loves to tease his humans with them and play keep away. He loves his treats and food. He is quite the character.
Due to his intense love of toys and one circumstance of resource guarding a bone chew, we recommend a home without children or other pets for Sir. He would like to be the only dog who gets ALL the things, cause he loves ALL the things A LOT.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 1 year 9 mos
WEIGHT: 38 lbs
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped.
GOOD WITH: Best with super chill dogs, older children 12+.

Thelma- NEW ARRIVAL!
Thelma is available for adoption!
Thelma is said to be good around livestock, chickens and cats. She was best friends with a mini horse, too!
Volunteer Jada writes, "Thelma has found herself back with BBBR due to no fault of her own. I remember when she first came through our doors, she was a bit of a wild child. But this time around she has been nothing but a delight and really settled into an incredible dog.
She is still an active and playful girl who loves to play with toys but she is very respectful in play. Thelma absolutely loves the water and wasted no time getting in the pool to play around and cool off.
Thelma is incredibly smart and hasn't forgotten what she learned up at PAWS prior to being adopted. She can use a little brushing up on her stay but it is clear her skills have been kept up on. She is also very food motivated which makes continuing training a breeze.
She is such a happy girl, someone please come snatch her up before the shelter environment starts to weigh on her."
AGE: 6 years
WEIGHT: 82 lbs
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped.

Wonton-NEW ARRIVAL!
Wonton is available for adoption!
BBBR volunteer Jada reports-
Wonton is full of care free, happy puppy spirit. This sweet boy is so gentle and full of wiggly fun. Despite being young, this boy is easy to manage and is very attentive to his handlers. He is eager to please and already knows a handful of commands. He was a star student for his photos and held a sit and stay while I stepped away from him and snapped his photos. He is food motivated so it made it easy to coach him through it. When it came time to play, Wonton was ready! He thoroughly enjoyed playing with toys but really loved it when I engaged in play with him. He really respected boundaries and matched play energy. This boy is so sweet, fun and easy going!
Here is what the shelter reported- super loving little boy. Gets along great with everyone and everything. Did great at an off-site adoption event with horses and children running around with food in their hands. He was a PEACH. He loves other dogs and is our helper doggie in playgroups.
We use him A LOT to test male dogs with because he is so relaxed and neutral. Also shows to be cat social! He literally loves EVERONE <3

Montana- NEW ARRIVAL!
Montana is available for adoption!
Montana just arrived and we are getting to know her better. We will update her photo and bio soon! Here is what her foster reported!
Montana has come a long way—when she first arrived at the shelter, she weighed just 38 pounds, with every rib, hip, and spine bone showing. But thanks to lots of love, good food, and her unbreakable spirit, she’s now a healthy 65 pounds and looking better than ever! This 5-year-old sweetheart has never let her past define her. She
greets everyone she meets with a full-body wiggle and a constantly wagging tail, ready to share her joy and affection. Montana is potty trained, crate trained, and knows several commands including sit, shake, down, and wait. She’s food motivated
and eager to please, which makes her a fast learner. She loves going on pack walks with her doggie friends, playing fetch, and most of all—cuddling up next to you on the couch. She’s made great progress with her leash skills (though she still gets excited and pulls sometimes), and she lives for car rides—especially with the windows down
so she can feel the breeze. She’s also the perfect patio partner and would love to join
you at your favorite dog-friendly hangout. Montana is dog-friendly but would do best in
a home without cats. After all she’s overcome, this resilient and loving girl is more than
ready for a forever home of her own. She’s the kind of dog who will always put a smile on your face—could she be your new best friend?

Taco- NEW ARRIVAL!
Taco is available for adoption!
Volunteer Jada reports-
Taco is a very distinguished gentleman and is looking for a home who can appreciate the finer things in life. He's happiest lounging in a reclining chair with snacks nearby, all this guy is missing is a velvety smoking jacket. Taco is a sweet and affectionate boy who loves to lean in for pets. In typical Bulldog fashion he has a stubborn side but is more sweet than stubborn. This guy is very food motivated and takes treats gently. If you are looking for a laid back, low energy guy, Taco is your man!

happiest when life is simple — whether it’s a slow, peaceful stroll through the
neighborhood or lounging right by your side, soaking up the love. Taco is the perfect
companion for someone who enjoys quiet moments, gentle walks, and a whole lot of
unconditional affection. He’s calm, affectionate, and ready to be your new best friend. If you’re looking for a mellow buddy to share your days with, Taco is your guy.
