Teebo- CURRENTLY ATTENDING PAWS
Teebo is available for adoption!
Teebo just arrived to BBBR. We are getting to know him, his bio will be updated soon. The following is information provided by the previous shelter-
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
PERSONALITY TRAITS
Teebo is California City Animal Shelter's longest resident and is in danger of his life ending there in the near future. Teebo has gotten along with every dog he's met. Teebo is truly a case of “Black Dog
Syndrome!”
Teebo takes a little time to warm up to people and slightly favors females over males but he is not
aggressive at all. He is a little skittish but he's been in a shelter environment since December 15, 2022 –
a very stressful environment.
Teebo is leash trained and would benefit from a round of positive reinforcement training classes. He's a
smart boy that's treat motivated which makes training so much easier! And, it's a great way for Teebo and is new family/person to bond.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 2 years
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and microchipped
GOOD WITH: Other dogs; respectful children (8+); possibly cats or other small animals

Sugar- IN FOSTER
SUGAR IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Sugar has not had an easy go at life so far. She was pretty miserable with her cleft palate condition causing her difficulty with breathing. She has since had the necessary surgery to correct her cleft palate and is recovering nicely. All she needs/wants now is for her family/person to find her. Shes here....waiting.
SUGAR IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Sugar is thriving in her foster home and hopes her Christmas wish to get a furever home comes true.
Foster mom Becky writes, "Sugar, aka Sugar Princess, Sugar Bear, Sugar Booger...wants everyone to know she is happy and loving having a foster home. She is such a sweetheart. She loves her food and treats and will do about anything for them. She learned "place" pretty quickly and will go right to her place waiting for her food. Most times she nails it but sometimes as soon as she hears her bowl touch down, it is all the hungry chunky monkey can do to run and dive right in. No food aggression at all. She is a champ for bath time and loves a little drink out of the faucet while she is at it. She loves car rides and wants to be the navigation system. Such a cuddle bug and wants to be near her humans. If not being a cuddle bug she is a lap dog. Loves to nap and kick her back legs up on the couch, pillow, or a human. Sleeps all night without needing to go out. Does fine in the crate while we are gone and about does back flips when we return. Pretty low energy until she hears other dogs then perks up. Once in awhile she gets wound up and can play a bit rough with her mouth Would suggest older kids because of this and as she does not know her strength. I think this could improve once the vet clears her to have toys, chew toys, etc. (once her mouth is completely healed.) However, she does love kids. Walks are another favorite but she seems to prefer shorter walks if it is really cold. (I sure love that too.) Anyone would be so lucky to have this sweet girl in their lives. She will be a very loving and loyal companion."

LEOPOLD IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! PAWS PRISON PROGRAM GRADUATE!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Leopold is one handsome dude! He is silly, cuddly and very smart.
Leo graduated from the PAWS Training program and did very well! He knows his commands and is good on leash. Leo would love to be your (on leash) hiking partner or go camping with you – he's up for adventures! He would also love to share your sofa while binge watching tv with you! Leopold is very food motivated so it will be a breeze to teach him additional tricks and to reinforce what he already knows.
Leo is not a fan of other dogs and needs to be an only pet, with no off-leash exposure to other dogs. Leo's awesome foster parents continue to work on eye contact and redirecting when he gets distracted by other dogs, squirrels, whatever it may be. He's come a long way thanks to consistency (and treats)! He is a SMART and loving boy.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 3.5 years
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and microchipped
GOOD WITH: Must be only dog; no cats or other small animals; respectful older (10+) children

Nova- 3/7/23 PAWS GRADUATE! CHECK OUT MY PAWS CGC VIDEO LINK!
NOVA IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Nova is a sweet loving girl at her core, but the world around her can be very scary. Her short life has been spent living within the shelter system, which is a very uncertain place to grow up as a puppy. It is very apparent that she has had little to no exposure to the outside world. Until she had the opportunity to attend the PAWs program she hadn't experienced confident leadership from anyone. Nova did amazingly well up at the PAWs program, but now that she is back in the environment she started in, it is really taking a toll.
Nova will need a confident person who will take the time to expose her to the world in a slow and controlled way to make sure that her experiences are positive ones. Her anxious mind races a million miles a minute and she will need to learn to work through that instead of trying to escape it. When Nova is scared she tries to run away. Because of this, physical touch and leashing in confined spaces, before she trusts you, is one of her main fears because there is nowhere to go and no way to create space for herself. Nova has also shown a greater fear towards men, but that is not to say that without patience and trust she won't come around. She proved at the PAWs program that she is willing to open up and face her fears, as long as her person is there to guide her safely and confidently through it.
When Nova lets her guard down she is just like any other playful puppy! She enjoys playing with toys, she is very food motivated and is just all around a fun goofy girl. She would love an active family, maybe someone who loves to run or hike! She is dog friendly and would LOVE a very playful and confident playmate who can also help show her the world isn't so bad! She is very much still a puppy and would need a friend who could keep up with her playfulness as well as teach her some rules of the playground. She doesn't always get the memo when another pup is done playing.
Dogs like Nova may not always be the easiest at the beginning but they truly are worth it. The bond you build with a dog as you navigate and overcome their fears and anxieties solidify a love that goes unmatched for a lifetime.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 11 months
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and microchipped.
HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes
GOOD WITH: Other dogs; possibly children 15+due to her nervous skittish flight behavior; possibly cats; other small animals unknown

Buckus
Buckus is available for adoption!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Due to no fault of his own, Buckus is looking for a new home. He is a wonderful dog, loves to snuggle, snack on fresh watermelon, and looooves to swim! He’s a tug of war champion and will happily gnaw on a bone for a long time. Buckus is completely house trained, and he walks pretty well on a leash but does not like extra long walks in the summer or winter because he’s not into extreme weather, though
he does love to sunbathe in the morning and cooler evening.
Buckus took a bit to warm up to his last female doggy companion, so he may be a good fit to have
another large female friend who’s calm like he is, but he wouldn’t likely be a good fit for a male doggy sibling, and he would not do well with cats. He likes kids who are old enough to respect his boundaries, but can be very timid around crawling babies and toddlers.
Because of the transition he might need a minute to realize he's safe and warm up to his new family. Do that and you will be rewarded with his love forever! He is truly an angel of a dog!

Yukon - PAWS GRADUATE! CHECK OUT MY PAWS Canine Good Citizen test LINK VIDEO!
YUKON IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
PERSONALITY TRAITS
Yukon is a goofy, happy-go-lucky dog and loves both people and other dogs with a similar rough and
ready play style. He graduated from the PAWS Training Program with his Canine Good Citizen
certificate! Of course, his forever family/person should continue with his training when they get him
home. All instructions will go with him. Don't be intimidated, it's only to keep his training fresh!
Here is his final week of PAWS training report:
Yukon Week 8 Summary: Yukon has been a fun and lovable challenge. He has come a long long way
and we couldn’t be happier to see that he will have a real chance at a forever home now. I'm including a
video for his tricks and proper play to continue building his stimulus controls. I forgot to mention in the
video of how to play with Yukon, that when you release Yukon to engage the rope toy always hold the
rope with two hands to offer him a sure steady target. NEVER swing the rope in one hand because
dogs will go after the steadiest target and on a sporadic rope the steadiest point is at the hand. We hope
Yukon may be perfect for the perfect one. He will need love, guidance and understanding but will bring
a lot of joy. Journal Entry: Yukon's CGC test went well. We know he is capable of far better but he is
still a night and day from the dog who showed up here needing our guidance.
Yukon is a smart dog that needs regular exercise and stimulation....fill a Kong or two with peanut
butter, hide them in your (fenced-in) yard then start taking bets on how quickly he'll find them! And
once he lets off some steam he's ready for some snuggle time. Because of his energy level older (12+)
children are recommended. We do not know how he is with cats or other small animals.
Yukon will need a family/person that will commit to keep his training fresh. He will need a home that
will love him, be kind to him and give him positively reinforced guidance and structure.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 2 years
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro chipped.

FEYRE AKA FEY IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Bio will be updated with new info after we get to know her.
Fey is good with other dogs and in off leash doggy playgroups. She is timid at first but warms up quickly. Fey knows basic commands. Because she is a bit hyper children over 5 years old are recommended.
She did not have a good start to life – at only 8 months old she's already experienced how uncaring and
mean humans can be. In spite of her previous life she is a great dog and the only thing she wants is to find a family/person to love and love her back. It is thought Fey could live with small pets/cats.

Luna- PAWS GRADUATE! CHECK OUT MY PAWS CGC TEST VIDEO LINK!
Luna is available for adoption!
CHECK OUT MY PAWS Canine Good Citizen test video below!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Luna is a sweetheart with staff and volunteers. Luna has had TPLO surgery on her back left knee and is fully recovered.
From her PAWS handlers-
Final Summary 10/15/23 Luna has been an incredible dog to work with. She is very intelligent, and with all of that intelligence comes problems when her mind is not stimulated and boundaries set. We, as a team, believe that Luna came with some behavioral issues because she was able to find ways to get what she wanted and she was never restricted. Here she has been cognitively challenged with some firm boundaries set in place and she has thrived because of it. Wherever she goes she needs structure and discipline, not allowing her to get her way because she will attempt to. She is such an amazing dog though, so smart and once she builds up trust with her handlers she no longer shows the behavioral patterns that she has used in the past. Toys are what get her in trouble, she will probably attempt to resource guard them initially wherever she goes. This behavior needs to be strongly discouraged to continue the extinction that we have implemented. We recommend not giving her toys for at least 3-4 weeks, and when the handler decides to give toys be prepared to take certain steps in order to establish appropriate play. We have outlined these steps in supplemental information logs and her journal. After she becomes comfortable with her new people and she is given strong boundaries she is everything someone could hope for in a dog. She is loyal to her people, incredibly intelligent, fun-loving and affectionate. She has a charismatic personality and loves to speak her mind, and although she remains constantly alert- we think that might just be what someone wants or needs out of a pet. We taught her several tricks in order to keep her mind stimulated, we encourage the new handlers to keep that going as it would be a waste to not occupy that sharp mind with new and rewarding stimuli. She will annihilate any toy that she is given, however we have seen toys made of thick rubber survive more than one playing session, we use old basketballs as the material is stronger and thicker. We hope that wherever she goes, she can bring as much fun as she brought us.
BREED: Bully Blend
AGE: 3 years
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped. Recent TBLO surgery to repair torn cruciate. 100% healed and adorable.
GOOD WITH: best as only dog/can be selective, children, cats or other small animals unknown

Judy- NEW ARRIVAL
Judy is available for adoption!
Judy just arrived to BBBR, we will update her bio when we get to know her a bit better!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Judy is good with other dogs, knows basic commands and is leash trained. She is very nervous in her
kennel but once she is out she calms down and is a love bug that wants to sit next to you and gently accept treats that are offered.
Judy is a sweet girl that arrived to Orange County shelter in awful shape. Only 2 years old and she has already been wounded, abandoned and left to roam the streets. Her right hind leg had a severe would – her condition was so bad that her leg had to be amputated. If you look at her video, you will note she does not have a problem getting around on three legs! So, what we have now is a stellar tri-pod!
BREED: Rottweiler mix
AGE: 2 years
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped
GOOD WITH: Other dogs; possibly older (10+) respectful children; cats and other small animals unknown

Ted- NEW ARRIVAL!
Ted is available for adoption!
Thank you BBBR Photographer Jada for the beautiful picture of Ted. Jada writes, "This guy is stunningly handsome and he has the personality to match. Pictures just dont do him justice. Ted is so much fun, he absolutely LOVES squeaky toys and will proudly parade his toy around the yard. He is also a big fan of treats and will 'sit' in exchange for the goods. He is such a sweet, affectionate boy that loves to lean his side into your legs and slide down to his back while you give him all the scratches and love. He also walks very well on leash. This guy is such a goober and will provide ample entertainment and so so much love!"
